Kinkade Family Scholarship Established

Moberly Area Community College Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce the endowment of a new scholarship, to honor the Kinkade family by Edgar and Evelyn Kinkade. The endowed fund of $125,000 will be invested per the Foundation’s investment strategy, and five scholarships will be paid from the interest of the fund of approximately $1000 per year.
The Kinkade family started their association with MACC in the late 1920s when Anna Mildred Yager graduated from Moberly Junior College only a few years after its founding. She then married Leland Kinkade after his return from WWII. While working in Moberly, Leland was elected Mayor Pro Tem and spent several years working with MJC Dean Roy Buntin to grow the College and the City.
Leland and Mildred raised three children in Moberly, and two attended Moberly Junior College. The eldest, Edgar, attended Moberly High School in the Junior College building and spent much of his time as a manager for the football and track teams. He graduated from MJC in 1970, and after completing his degree from Central Methodist College, returned to Moberly to work for City Bank (now Central Bank of Moberly).
While working at the bank, Edgar joined the Moberly Junior College Foundation Board and raised funds for several new campus buildings. About this same time, the youngest of the Kinkades, John, attended Moberly Area Community College and spent a year as Mascot for the Greyhound basketball team. He is remembered as the Mascot who received a technical foul during a Greyhound home game.
Another member of the family, Edgar’s wife Evelyn, worked for years as an assistant to MACC’s President, Dr. Andrew Komar.
Although none of the Kinkade family now lives in Moberly, they cherish their memories of MJC and MACC. With this scholarship, the Kinkade Family hopes to inspire future generations of Greyhound athletics and provide lasting memories to future students.
The Moberly Area Community College Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) exists to advance, assist, and support MACC to enrich and enhance learning opportunities for students of Moberly Area Community College and the communities which it serves.
